How to choose the best mushrooms?

According to the Mushroom Council, when you choose mushrooms look for those that have a smooth, dry appearance. It is good to know that mushrooms that have an opening under the cap, will have a deeper flavor, while mushrooms with closed caps will be more delicate. And white mushrooms in general have a milder flavor.

How to store and keep mushrooms fresh?

Mushrooms should be stored in their original packaging or in a brown paper bag in the refrigerator. They should last up to 10 days. It is also recommended not to keep mushrooms in the crisper drawer of the refrigerator. The drawer has a moist enviornment and will not keep the mushrooms fresh.

When you are ready to cook your mushrooms, rinse them lightly under the sprayer of your faucet. Gently dry with a towel.

    Can mushrooms be frozen?

Mushrooms do not do well frozen whole, uncooked. But you can freeze them after they've been cooked and will last at least six months in an airtight container.

    Are mushrooms keto?

Not only are mushrooms low in calories but they are also a low carb, keto vegetable with about 3 net carbs per half cup. They are full of vitamins and minerals so you can feel good about eating mushrooms in any meal.

How to make air fryer marinated mushrooms?

Mushrooms have their own savory flavor but they do take on some of the flavors they are cooked with. Marinating them in the same sauce that steak is marinated in with give them a really deep flavor and compliment the beef.

Mix the worchestire and soy sauces, sugar, oil, vinegar and spices. Slice the washed mushrooms into thirds or quarters, depending on how large they are. Put mushrooms into a bowl or plastic bag and pour marinade over and leave for about 30 minutes.

Preheat air fryer @375°F. Air fry the mushrooms for approximately 10-15 minutes. Check the mushrooms at about halfway, stir to allow even cooking. They will be done when the mushrooms are browned and tender.

    Description

These deliciously easy air fryer mushrooms are marinated in a savory sauce before they go into the air fryer.  They are a perfect side dish for your favorite steak dinner.

    Ingredients

    Scale
    • 1 lb. mushrooms, (lightly rinsed and dried) sliced in quarters
    • 1 TB worchestire sauce
    • 1 TB soy sauce
    • 1 TB olive oil
    • 1 TB balsamic vinegar
    • 1 TB sugar substitute
    • 1 tsp salt & pepper
    • 1 tsp garlic powder
    • 1 tsp favorite steak seasoning ( I used McCormick's Brazillion Steakhouse)

    Instructions

    1. Into a large bowl, combine all ingredients except mushrooms and stir to mix together.
    2. Pour mushrooms in bowl, stir to coat with marinade.  Set aside for 30 minutes.
    3. Preheat air fryer to 375°F.
    4. Drain Mushrooms.  Air fry the mushrooms for 5 minutes.  Stir the mushrooms to allow even cooking.  Continue air frying for another 5 -8 minutes until cooked through.  The mushrooms will shrink and darken quite a bit, but they will still be tender.

I have never used a Ninja grill so I'm not sure about it being used as a wok. Take a look at the manual, usually there are recipes that go along with it. I do know that you can use marinade for pretty much any meat, drain it and then grill. Hope this helps you!
